Editing Client Information

Keep your client records accurate and up-to-date by editing their information whenever changes occur. This guide shows you how to modify client details in Shorebird OS.

Accessing a Client Record

There are several ways to find and open a client:

From the Clients List

  1. Navigate to CRM → Clients
  2. Find the client using search or scrolling
  3. Click on the client's name to open their record
  1. Press Ctrl+K (or ⌘+K on Mac)
  2. Type the client's name or email
  3. Select the client from results

Editing Basic Information

Once you've opened a client record:

  1. Click the Edit button (or pencil icon)
  2. Modify any of the editable fields:
    • Name
    • Email
    • Phone
    • Address
    • Company association
    • Tags
  3. Click Save to apply changes
Quick Edit

For single fields, you may be able to click directly on the field value to edit it inline without opening the full edit form.


Changing a Client's Company

To move a client to a different company:

  1. Open the client record
  2. Click Edit
  3. In the Company field, clear the current company
  4. Search for and select the new company
  5. Click Save
Note

Changing a client's company does not automatically move their projects or files. Projects will retain their original company association.


Managing Tags

Tags help you organize and filter clients. To manage tags:

Adding Tags

  1. Open the client record
  2. Click the Tags section (or + Add Tag)
  3. Select existing tags or type to create new ones
  4. Press Enter to add

Removing Tags

  1. Click the × on any tag to remove it

Editing Contact Information

If your client has multiple contact methods:

Adding Additional Emails/Phones

  1. Open the client edit form
  2. Click + Add Email or + Add Phone
  3. Enter the additional contact info
  4. Label it appropriately (Work, Personal, Mobile, etc.)
  5. Save

Setting Primary Contact

Click the star icon next to an email or phone to set it as the primary contact method.


Updating Custom Fields

If your workspace has custom fields configured:

  1. Open the client edit form
  2. Scroll to the Custom Fields section
  3. Update values as needed
  4. Save changes

Custom fields are configured by administrators in Settings.


Edit History

Shorebird OS tracks changes to client records:

  1. Open the client record
  2. Click on Activity tab
  3. Filter by "Changes" to see edit history

You'll see:

  • What was changed
  • Who made the change
  • When the change occurred

Bulk Editing

To update multiple clients at once:

  1. Go to CRM → Clients
  2. Select clients using the checkboxes
  3. Click Bulk Actions in the toolbar
  4. Choose an action:
    • Add Tags — Apply tags to all selected
    • Remove Tags — Remove tags from all selected
    • Change Company — Move all to a different company
    • Export — Download selected client data

Common Questions

Can I undo changes?

Individual field changes cannot be automatically undone, but you can view the edit history to see previous values and manually restore them.

Who can edit clients?

Users with "Edit Client" permissions can modify client records. Check with your administrator if you can't access edit features.

Will editing a client affect their projects?

Editing client information (name, email, etc.) does not affect associated projects. The projects will reflect the updated client information.
